Arthropod-Microbe Symbioses
Big Title
Welcome!
I'm Dr. Matt Doremus and I am a researcher in the Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky. I’ll be starting as an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in January 2025.
I completed my Master’s in 2016 on pea aphid defensive symbioses at the University of Georgia and my PhD in 2022 on the manipulative symbiont Cardinium at the University of Arizona. I’ve been working as a postdoctoral researcher studying heritable symbioses of spiders at the University of Kentucky since 2023.
My Research
I’m interested in arthropod-microbe symbioses and how the external environment affects these relationships. You can find more info about me and my research interests throughout this site.
My lab has openings for a lab technician (start date Spring 2025) and graduate students (Fall 2025)! If you're interested in applying for a position in my lab, please visit the News tab for more information.
